My Top Trends for Transitioning to Fall

by Accounting Olive Ave on August 13, 2020

I know it’s still August, but fall will be here before we know it! Where I live, we have a shorter summer, so fall and winter arrive earlier than in other parts of the country. Our nights start to cool off in August, and by September there’s a chill in the morning air! I love it. I want to share my top trends for transitioning to fall with you today.

Trends that will take you from summer into fall! www.oliveave.com/blogs

There’s no reason to go out and buy a whole new fall wardrobe, you can easily wear many of your favorite summer pieces into the early weeks of fall. Here’s how!

Jean Jackets

Jean Jackets have been a fashion staple for so long, I don’t know how anyone survives without one in their closet! Why do I love jean jackets? They are so great for those early fall days when you are too cold to wear a long sleeve shirt all day, but you need another layer to stay warm.

A jean jacket is one of my favorite trends for transitioning to fall. I love to pair mine with a flowy t-shirt and jeans. They also look really great with skirts and dresses. Jean jackets are so versatile.

Clogs

Clogs are our number one selling item every fall. I have to say, I’m not surprised! I love clogs. They can be dressed up or down easily, and they look great with just about anything!

I love clogs! To me, they are a staple for every wardrobe. www.oliveave.com

I love wearing my clogs with or without socks and I especially love wearing tights and a cute denim skirt with my clogs when the temperatures drop. Add a wide brimmed hat and you have the perfect fall outfit!

Button Down Shirts

A button down shirt can be worn so many ways. You can wear it open and use it as a light layer over a t-shirt, you can button it up and tuck it in to show off a cute belt, or you can tuck it in asymmetrically for a more casual look. I consider a good button down shirt to be a staple in any wardrobe.

I love this cream button down shirt we carry right now. The cream color is a great shade for transitioning to fall. You can wear a shirt like this with your jeans or denim skirt and some cute clogs. It’s an easy trend for transitioning to fall.

Denim Skirt

Every closet needs a denim skirt! www.oliveave.com

I’ve mentioned how amazing denim skirts can be earlier in this post. Can you tell I love denim skirts? They are the ultimate workhorse staple of any closet. In fact, I believe that every closet needs a denim skirt for all seasons. You can wear tights and clogs with them in the cold weather, and in the warm months pair your skirt with a cute pair of sneakers. You can do anything with a denim skirt. If you don’t have one, you have to get one.

Bonus Style Tips:

I love the flowy tops inspired by the styles of the 60's and 70's. www.oliveave.com

Have you noticed the 70’s and 60’s fashion that is sticking around? I love the flowy tops that are inspired by those decades, and of course, the clogs!

This 1940's style dress is so flattering! www.oliveave.com

But we aren’t only working with the 60’s and 70’s when we are talking top trends for transitioning to fall, we are also seeing 40’s inspired dresses. Here’s an example of a 1940’s inspired dress shape that I love. These dress silhouettes are so flattering and feminine. And, they’re really gorgeous.

My biggest tip for you as you plan your wardrobe to transition to fall?

Find shirts that work now and also in the early fall, and choose colors that aren’t too bright and can go into fall. Those beautiful sage greens, rust shades, and creamy whites are great for taking you from summer into fall. Find these trends and more at my shop, Olive Ave. Boutique!
