Plaid is a classic fall and winter closet staple. It’s especially great when it’s a flannel plaid- so soft and so cozy. Especially perfect for everyone working at home or attending school virtually this year!
Both are great for layering right now, as the weather changes and flip flops between both warm and colder days. Once winter hits it’s an easy way to add a pop of color and pattern to your wardrobe and goes great with trendy graphic tees and sweatshirts and neutral basics.
I recently jumped on Instagram to highlight just how versatile it is. You can find that video here. Take a look at some of my favorite ways to style your plaids and flannels this season...
Experiment with your “tuck”. You will get so many different looks out of one simple tuck. Whether you choose to tuck just one side, use the “French tuck”, tie at your waist, or tuck in fully, you’ll love how versatile your plaid and flannel button down shirts are.
Wear a plaid shirt over your favorite tee...
Layer your favorite plaid shirt under a vest...
Layer your flannel over a thin sweater or long sleeve shirt...
Layer it under a sweater or cardigan…
Wear a plaid top with a skirt and tights. Try adding a high belt or a tie at the waist... we love this versatile skirt you can find here!
Try different styles of pants, pairing your plaid top with distressed black jeans for a casual look, creating the perfect stay at home style by pairing with cozy joggers or dressing it up with chic slacks or trousers…
Pair a plaid top with boyfriend jeans and a blazer…
Try pairing with different shoes- from sneakers to mules, boots to heels, and everything in-between.
As you can see, plaid is the perfect wardrobe piece for experimenting with layering flannel with sweaters, vests, distressed jeans, jackets and coats in new and fresh combinations. You can find all of these pieces for your own wardrobe here!
